Support for Volunteer Ambulance is Focus of Niagara County Project
Niagara County NY has sought CGR’s assistance to analyze its existing EMS system and help develop an operational plan for the future. The county has a population of 212,000 in over 500 square miles. While the project will evaluate EMS throughout the county, this engagement will focus on how the county can best support the existing volunteer ambulances that serve the rural areas of the county. As in many parts of the country, Niagara County’s volunteer EMS providers are struggling to keep pace with the growth in demand for service and the increase in training requirements. The county has taken initial steps toward developing its own EMS operations and already has a contract for ambulance service to fill a gap created with the pending closure of a hospital.
