About the Study

The Process

CGR has been hired to assist the Village Board of Trustees and Dissolution Committee to help develop and present a dissolution plan. The plan is being developed in accordance with General Municipal Law 17-A and will be the subject of several public meetings. The plan was adopted on May 11, 2016 and was presented at a public hearing at the Forestville American Legion Hall, 6 Cedar Street, on June 14th at 7:30 pm. The Village Board adopted the final plan, unchanged, at their July 12, 2016 meeting. In accordance with the adopted plan, the Village of Forestville will dissolve on December 31, 2016. You can read the descriptive summary and the plan. It is possible for another referendum on the plan to be called based on a petition from 25 percent of the registered voters in the Village.

Project Steering Committee

The process is being overseen by a Steering Committee composed of Town and Village residents with assistance from the Center for Governmental Research (CGR).
