CGR's (Center for Governmental Research) mission is to enable positive community change through the highest quality research, analysis, data insight and collaboration remains vitally important. We use philanthropic donations to keep our nonprofit research and consulting practice strong and responsive to our community’s most pressing challenges. Your support of CGR allows us to invest in our staff and ensure that our capabilities match community needs, so that we can continue to support the organizations and initiatives working to meet today’s numerous challenges.
Key projects this year included:
- Assessing the workforce needs for clean energy jobs for the Climate Solutions Accelerator, our regional collective impact organization focused on climate change.
- In partnership with the Greater Rochester League of Women Voters, weighing the potential impact in New York State of Final Five Voting, which would likely eliminate most party primaries and result in ranked choice voting in general elections.
- Supporting Hope585 in its Reimagine Initiative to improve support for families and create a community-centered child welfare approach.
- Assisting the Urban League of Rochester in developing a new strategic plan.
- Working with Connected Communities to support this neighborhood-focused systems change initiative in the Beechwood and EMMA neighborhoods of Northeast Rochester to derive insights from data.
