The project team, led by CGR, will conduct a review of the existing law enforcement agency operations in Tompkins County through interviews and data analysis. CGR will present the gathered information to the Tomkins County Law Enforcement Shared Services Study Committee as the basis for the discussion of options. Key findings will include efficiency opportunities, potential opportunities to expand to expand shared services between the agencies, and a model for potential merger of the agencies.
The process is being overseen by the Tomkins County Law Enforcement Shared Services Study Committee and led by CGR, a nonprofit management consulting organization with extensive experience in New York and nationally addressing issues related to criminal justice systems, alternatives-to-incarceration, and project jail population assessments. The Law Enforcement Shared Services Committee includes members from the County Legislature, City of Ithaca, Sheriff’s Office, Ithaca Police Department, Cayuga Heights Police Department, Dryden Police Department, and Groton Police Department. The members will have a chance to review and comment on reports prior to public distribution and will assist the consultant team in developing the project deliverables.
The Study Committee and CGR encourage public engagement in this process. Please submit your comments, questions and other feedback by clicking here and visiting the public engagement page.
